Type of incident Notification of housing demolition
Date of incident 14 September 2017

On 14 September 2017, Sana awoke to find Israeli police at her front door issuing an order to demolish theirhouse. They have issued many complaints to the court about this but are still waiting to hear what will happen.

My name is Sana and I am a 23 year old housewife; I am married with two young children. I live in a detached building on the fourth floor in Kufr Aqab.

On 14 September 2017, at approximately 10:00 a.m. I was awoken by a knocking at the door. When my husband answered we were shocked to find five Israeli policemen and the president of Kufr Aqab municipality.

The police told us they were going to demolish our building because it does not have a license, and we only have a week to move out.

On 14 October 2017, a hearing was set at the court in Jerusalem and my husband issued a complaint against the demolition order. His complaint was refused and the hearing was postponed until 28 February 2018.

On 22 October 2017, the police returned and threatened the residents of the building. They said we must leave as they will return any day to demolish it.

I am devastated by what is happening. My family cannot afford to live in Jerusalem because of the cost, and the high taxes imposed by Israelis on Palestinian residents. We have spent all we have on our home; our lives no longer have stability.
