On 25 July 2017, Israeli soldiers raided the home of 47 year old Amal. The soldiers didn’t arrest anyone, but they left behind chaos. No search warrants were presented. Amal is left feeling unsafe in her own home.

“My name is Amal and I am 47 years old. I live in Tel village in Nablus with my husband and our two sons Asem (25), and Baraa (21).”

“On 25 July 2017, at 2:30 a.m., I checked the time on my phone, I woke up to loud banging on the main door of my house. I woke my husband up, and quickly got dressed. Together we went out of the bedroom to open the main door of the house.”

“When my husband opened the door, we were shocked to see around 10 Israeli soldiers in full military gear. The soldiers entered the house and the commander presented himself. While this was happening, my children woke up to the noise and came out to the living room. “

“The commander made us all sit while two soldiers stood to guard us by pointing their guns towards us. Following the commander’s orders, I brought our IDs to him.”

“The rest of the soldiers were spread inside the house; I didn’t see what they were doing during the raid. After the soldiers left I saw that the soldiers had thrown all our clothes out of the cupboards, and hadn’t left a thing in place. They didn’t however cause damages to the furniture.”

“I was sitting in the living room horrified; I was worried that the soldiers would arrest my husband or son: my daughter was shivering out of fear. This was the first time the soldiers raided our home.”

“At 3:00 a.m., I checked the time on my phone, the soldiers withdrew from the house, without arresting anyone. When my husband asked the soldiers why they had raided our house, they didn’t respond nor hand us a search warrant. “

“I don’t feel stable or safe anymore. I was horrified when I saw the soldiers.”
